Every week, I post a picture of the food that has gone bad over the last seven days. I started doing this in March of 2008 to help motivate myself to use up my food instead of wasting it and it’s been very effective. Since it helped me so much, I invited other bloggers to join me in posting their food waste photos, and Food Waste Friday was born.
So, last week I was a little worried about how I was going to do with food waste this week, as I had a lot of leftovers and perishable food in my fridge.
Happily, I was able to deal with all of it, and I have no waste to report this week! We ate leftovers and froze some food to use later, so this post is fabulously picture-less. 🙂
And because I did so little shopping this past week, we’ve managed to eat through a lot of food in our fridge and cabinets, which makes me happy. There’s nothing like a week of minimalist grocery shopping to make us eat the odds and ends that are hanging around our house!

THis is a great idea! I definitely need some additional motivation. We've been mostly doing better but I did clean out the fridge last week and had let some things go to waste :(

If the week is Fri to Fri, than nothing here, too. But Sat am I threw out a dried out half a plum and a dried out half a hard boiled egg, and two pieces of fruit are getting moldy so someone'd better eat them quick.

Just 1/4 cup of brown rice. Not so much!

I didn't have a perfect week, but I was pretty close.
I really love participating in FWF. Not only does it help me cut down on food waste, but some of my readers pay attention to their waste now and are trying to cut down also. It's nice to see this spreading around and around.
