Every week, I post a picture of the food that has gone bad over the last seven days. Why do I do this? Because in March of 2008, I finally got fed up with the amount of food I was wasting, and I thought that showing my waste to other people would motivate me to use up my food instead of wasting it. Because this often embarrassing practice was so helpful for me, I invited other bloggers to join me in posting their food waste photos, and Food Waste Friday was born. If you’re not a blogger but still want some food waste accountability, feel free to participate by leaving a comment.
It’s so weird to think that last Friday, I was in Myrtle Beach…it doesn’t even seem like it could have been a week ago already!
My sister and I did make it through the week with no waste. Our leftover dinner the night before we left was key, I think…we used up lots of odds and ends, and the stuff that was left fit nicely into our coolers.
Happily, I haven’t wasted anything since I came home except this poor sweet potato, which has been languishing in a cupboard of mine for quite some time apparently. Whoops.
In happier news, I would like to say that I took this picture on my front step at 6:15 am. That could never happen in the winter.
I just love these days when it gets light so early (it’s even starting to almost be daylight when Mr. FG leaves…it sort of makes it feel like he’s leaving at a reasonable hour!).

Busy Friday over at Chez Wright as making multiple Birthday Cakes - everyone seems to have a Birthday this week! But still salvaged the potential food waste !!

I almost had a peach that was a goner but mom salvaged it and had it with her breakfast this morning. Other than that we have no waste.

Nothing, I think. But I'm still waiting for help with the cilantro...
I turnip I tossed, whole, into the compost pile is now growing. Do I get a credit?

I'd say you get at least half a point credited back to your account.

A better week than last luckily. That is a very fossil looking sweet potato. Maybe it should just stay?
