Every week, I post a picture of the food that has gone bad over the last seven days. I started doing this in March of 2008 to help motivate myself to use up my food instead of wasting it and it’s been very effective. Since it helped me so much, I invited other bloggers to join me in posting their food waste photos, and Food Waste Friday was born.
First, in case you missed my edit to this post, I took the suggestion some of you offered about my rice, and I made rice pudding with it. I ate it for breakfast on Saturday, so the rice is officially gone. Woo!
Secondly, here is what I wasted:

Yes indeedy, people! For the first time in what seems like f o r e v e r, I have no waste! Double woo!
However, because we all know that I think a post without a picture is sort of boring, here’s the comprised-of-leftovers salad I had for lunch yesterday.
We’d had tacos the night before, so I had leftover lettuce, tomatoes, and shredded cheese. I combined this with some marinated, grilled chicken from a previous night, and the result was quite delicious, and very unlike taco leftovers.
(hop over to this post if you want to see more ways I used up food this week)

Hmmm, left overs. Well, I have a two day rule here. As it is just hubby and I. If we have not had it, (what ever), made into a second or third dish, its history. We have had food handlers cards in the past, and letting things sit around, even in fridge, is a no no. The bright side here, is that hubby has gotten to where he can cook for two. We raised 4 kids, and its very different for two! I do admire anyone who has put together fun meals with what has been put in fridge after a good meal. Life is an adventure, and I want to be in the middle of it!:)

I want to thank the crowd for suggesting rice pudding. This is the dreaded Week of Office Parties (3 of them). I had a couple cups of Chinese take-out rice to deal with that was getting too long in the tooth to eat. I added whole milk, cream, and sugar. Yum. I wonder if there'll be any left for the party?
Angela - that is compostable. But why do you have *one tablespoon* of soup left?!? BTW, I can't post to your blog anymore. My existing settings, which I need to keep, block my ability to see the captcha text.

I finally got my post up, a day and a half late!
Not a great week, but most of it is compostable. I think- is a tablespoon of cream of mushroom soup okay to compost?
