Every week, I post a picture of the food that has gone bad over the last seven days. Why do I do this? Because in March of 2008, I finally got fed up with the amount of food I was wasting, and I thought that showing my waste to other people would motivate me to use up my food instead of wasting it. Because this often embarrassing practice was so helpful for me, I invited other bloggers to join me in posting their food waste photos, and Food Waste Friday was born. If you’re not a blogger but still want some food waste accountability, feel free to participate by leaving a comment.
First off, the randomly chosen winner of the gift bag is commenter #12, Molly F.C. Congrats, Molly! And thanks to you all for your delightful response to my giveaway. We’ll have to do something like that again soon.
Secondly, thank you all so much for your input on my guest posting question. Your thoughts have been very helpful to me…you guys rock!
Now, on to food waste.
Well, sort of, because I have nothing to report. Yay! I did have a weird avocado earlier this week (it was sort of yellow inside and had some darker streaks in it) that was no good for guacamole. So I blended it up and froze it to combine with banana puree next time I make Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins.
I’ve got a number of leftovers in my fridge right now, though, and some produce that needs to be used up ASAP, but I’ll try to get it taken care of so that I can have a repeat performance of this no-waste week!

Not a good week at all. We wasted a pork chop,2apples,a cheesy spanish casserole and spaghetti with meatsauce. I am hoping for a better week this week.

With final projects in school due and a crazy work schedule, I wasted a lot. 1/3 of a large casserole that wasn't so great after the 3rd time eating it, a bunch of another leftover dinner that also wasn't so great reheated. Sad 2 weeks.
Oh well, I will do better next time.

I'm getting better and better about NOT wasting food. in part because I made a new year's resolution some years back, but I can say for sure that your weekly "nagging" (more like sweet, gentle weekly reminders) has REALLY helped. Thanks, FG!!

I did not waste a thing this week either. I am so thankful. I am the type of person who is a major recycler. If I can find a use for it, it will not be wasted. I hope someone will do a post on how to recycle just about everything.

No waste here! Doing the happy dance around the kitchen! Sill a lot of food in the fridge but it seems manageable. Went way over the food budget last week, but we don't need a lot this week so I think it will average out. Don't think I could ever go a whole two weeks without shoppng since we run out of milk and produce, but it seems like a big trip followed by a smaller fill-in trip fits our lifestyle well.
