In my part of the east coast, August is usually a miserable month weather-wise. Most days are in the mid 90s and the humidity hovers around 90%. It cools off a little bit at night, but the humidity just doesn’t go away. As a result, our electric bill is usually pretty high in August(and for that matter, July too!). For some reason, though, this has been an unusually cool summer overall and an especially cool August. A number of mornings this month have been so chilly that I’ve thrown on a light long-sleeved shirt when I go for a walk in the early morning(love that!). Almost every morning recently I’ve been able to open the windows and air out the house for at least the early part of the day, and several days have been temperate enough to go without AC altogether(comfortably, even!). Right now my house is open and it’s down to 76 degrees in here, which is an nice improvement over the 79-80 degrees our AC is usually set on.
Anyway, the other night as we were hopping into bed, I remarked to my husband about how cheap the weather had been lately, and he was like, “Kristen!!! Who thinks of weather as cheap or expensive??”. Um, apparently me! Don’t get me wrong…I’m loving the improved physical comfort that this weather brings, but I’m probably just a little bit happier about the money it’s saving me.
I’m hopelessly frugal.

I agree with you about the "cheap weather", though until I came across your blog I never thought of the weather in those terms. LOL.

Oh, I'm glad. My poor neglected baking blog...I really need to post another recipe there! I've not been faithful about posting there, because I want to switch it to Wordpress, but then I'm not sure if I should wait to do that until the hosting I signed up for is finally activated. I'm sort of in flux. lol I do have pictures of the stromboli all ready to go. I just need to post them and type up the recipe.
