It wasn’t a zero-waste week for me, unfortunately.
This pasta was leftover from a dish I made a while back, and I had good intentions of heating it up with some tomato sauce. Somehow, I never got around to do that.
And the cherry tomatoes(which are from two weeks ago!) got lost in the back of the fridge. Sigh. We did eat every single one from last week, though, so I’m pleased about that. Those things get moldy in the blink of an eye, so I feel very happy if we eat them before they go bad.

Jinger-Oh yes, they went into my compost pile!
Kalee-I usually leave them out on the counter as long as possible. However, I've had some trouble with them going bad there. They do taste better when they haven't been refrigerated, though.

I thought I would pass on some advice my mother and grandmother always gave me. They said to never refrigerate tomatoes. To keep them on the counter (out of the sunlight, but not too cold). It always seemed to work. I don't know if there is a scientific basis for it, but I can tell you that they never went bad before we ate them all! Hope this helps.

Could those tomatoes go into the compost pile? I try not to waste either, but sometimes, I just have to let leftovers go if they have been in the fridge over 3 days.
I'm glad to have found your blog! Inspiring.

Another good week of no waste for us. I have to tell you my husband (and a few good friends!) have been indispensable in this challenge. I could not do it alone! Dh eats the leftovers quite cheerfully - just today I came home dreading what I thought would be leftover lasagna and he had eaten it for lunch. Whew!
Cherry tomatoes are quite tasty when roasted with a little olive oil, garlic and salt - this is something good to do with them if they are shriveled and look unappetizing for a salad, but haven't gotten moldy. And roasted tomatoes would make an excellent topping for leftover pasta! :)
