Every week, I post a picture of the food that has gone bad over the last seven days. Why do I do this? Because in March of 2008, I finally got fed up with the amount of food I was wasting, and I thought that showing my waste to other people would motivate me to use up my food instead of wasting it. Because this often embarrassing practice was so helpful for me, I invited other bloggers to join me in posting their food waste photos, and Food Waste Friday was born. If you’re not a blogger but still want some food waste accountability, feel free to participate by leaving a comment.
Thanks in part to my thorough fridge clean-out from last week, I have very little waste to report this week…I just lost a clementine, which looked fine on the outside but was moldy in the middle. We were in the midst of lunch when I discovered it, though, and I didn’t stop to take a photo.
So, here’s a random photo to help keep this post from being boring. 😉

A late in the day post and link up. I had a fun and rewarding day, both with my family and moving out a lot of items from our home. I love passing items on to others who will get greater use out of our stuff. My home and my heart feel lighter tonight.
As for the food waste. Only two things. One was consciously done. The other happened because I acted unconsciously while grumpy.
Thankfully I learned something from both losses :)

Honestly with the clean out before and after thanksgiving for our trip, this week had almost no food waste. Maybe just a tiny bit of romaine leaves. Often times when I buy fresh romaine, I have to take off the outer leaves, or tops of some leaves, etc. as they are not good. But nothing else, that I can remember. Think I did see some mold on some cheese that will need to be cut off soon.

We had some pumpkin seeds and some scalded yogurt/ricotta cheese that went to the compost. All in all, not a bad week!

I had some waste this week. Two loaves of bread!
