Food Waste Friday | Ahem.

Every week, I post a picture of the food that has gone bad over the last seven days. Why do I do this? Because in March of 2008, I finally got fed up with the amount of food I was wasting, and I thought that showing my waste to other people would motivate me to use up my food instead of wasting it. Because this often embarrassing practice was so helpful for me, I invited other bloggers to join me in posting their food waste photos, and Food Waste Friday was born. If you’re not a blogger but still want some food waste accountability, feel free to participate by leaving a comment.

I’d like to announce that I have no food waste this week. Yay!

However, my fridge is not at its emptiest, so it’s going to be a challenge to show up with a no-waste week next Friday.

Nice work, Kristen! I'll be rooting for you to show up with clean slate next week.

I had a fourth of a can of black beans and a half of a cucumber (a casualty of being away for a week). Traveling really messes up my waste-avoiding groove, know what I mean?

One small round stuffed zucchini. The recipe wasn't very good, or not good at all actually. My husband powered through his stuffed peppers (he doesn't like zucchini), but I just couldn't get the last one down. And a little salmon salad he made from some leftover salmon-neither of us liked this.

A change ofr us to be wasting prepared food this week. Usually it seems that I overbuy ingredients. Maybe I'm getting a grip on that and will rely on time-tested recipes this week instead of experimenting!

I've got one plum thats hanging in the balance. I think I can eat it as part of my lunch other than that there is no food waste this week.

Terrible but not for the reasons I thought last week. Much throat with strep = much food not eaten.

My guests didn't dig the experimental Roast Onion Dip and I didn't like it either, so 3c. got pitched.

My kind neighbor brought me a 2 quarts peaches ... but I just got 2 quarts from the CSA as well. Four are already partly moldy. I have pie and ice cream in my future.

An apple and an orange went moldy. Some of the apple may make it into the pie.

On the bright side my friend took the cabbage and the CSA is selling happy chicken for $3/lb.
