I’d mentioned last week that I was really, really hoping to have a no-food-waste week this week, and until a day or two ago, I thought it was going to happen. Alas, this one small piece of grilled pepper didn’t get eaten, and neither did this cream(I know…stupid! Who wastes a pint of raw, from the farm cream??). It was from last week’s milk, but in the interest of honesty, I’m still including it. It should probably have gone in last week’s photo, but for some reason I hung onto it.
Happily, I already used my cream from this week’s milk(I made a delicous pink sauce to go over ravioli…it is my most favoritest pasta sauce e v e r.), and hopefully I can keep that up. I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I often put off using the cream because I have great plans for it…I’m going to make ice cream, or I’m going to whip it up and use it to top off some pudding and then I don’t. I should just throw it into a smoothie or something. That might not be terribly exciting, but it would be much better than throwing it over my deck. And truly, cream blended with frozen bananas and strawberries is very delicious.
So. I didn’t do a no-waste week, but I didn’t have to throw any food in the trash. The pepper got composted, and the cream got thrown into a not-very-manicured portion of my yard. My neighbor must have wondered what in the world I was pouring out of the canning jar.
Maaaaybe next week I will finally reach my previously unattainable goal of having absolutely no waste. Stay tuned.

You can use the cream as face cream.

Yeah, I'd be one of those people! LOL I've tried it in a last-ditch effort to save some cream, and the resulting butter was foul-tasting to me. I have sometimes put a little bit of sour cream into my baking, but I've found that too much sour dairy product can make the baked good taste weird(and then I end up wasting flour and sugar and yeast along with the sour dairy!).
I used to be HORRIBLE with my food-wasting. It was really bad. I've seen a huge improvement since I started blogging about it in March, though. Public humiliation is a great motivation.

Not bad! Way better than my food waste from...Uh, just yesteraday. One day, not one week. I was pretty frustrated with myself.
BTW, sour farm cream can be used in baking, as long as it's not actually molding. You can also make butter out of it, but it tastes different from sweet cream butter. A lot of people don't like it.
