I spent money at 4 places this week.
As usual, I spent $7 at the farm for my milk, and I also stopped at a local grocery store to buy some local peaches (which are SO delicious!) for $.99/lb, and butter for $1.67/lb. I also bought a half gallon of milk because ours had run out before we went to the farm. I spent $13.25 there.
Then on our official grocery shopping day I spent $33.85 at Aldi. Finally, my groceries at Weis came to $38.03. However! I have a $10 rebate to send in, and I got a coupon for $7 off my next shopping order, so counting those as cash (because they will be eventually), I only spent $21.03 at Weis.
That puts me at only $75.13 for the week…yay! I was $7.62 over last week, though, so once I add that in, my real total for this week is $82.75. That’s still $17.25 under my $100 budget, though, which is nice. 🙂
Here’s what I bought in pictures, although the milk and the local store trip are not pictured.
Produce (I still am getting a lot of veggies from gardeners, so I don’t have to buy a lot of those right now),
other stuff (there are actually 10 boxes of cereal in the picture, but they only cost me $1.98 after coupons and a rebate!),
plus these three things which somehow didn’t make it into the other pictures!
Here’s how I go the cereal so cheaply. Kellogg’s cereal was on sale (some for $2, some for $2.33), I had 3 $1 coupons, I had a $10 rebate, and Weis was offering $7 back for buying $20 worth of Kellogg’s cereals. I bought $21.98 worth of cereal, so after the coupons, rebate, and $7 back, I paid $1.98 for all 10 boxes. I love it when that happens. Zoe is thrilled to pieces because after granola, shredded wheat is her favorite breakfast food.
This week breakfast and lunch will be just the usual, and this is what we’ll be eating for dinner:
Saturday
- Grilled Bratwurst on buns
- fresh peaches
- raw carrot sticks
- probably some watermelon
Sunday
- French Toast
- OJ
Monday
- Hibachi Chicken and Shrimp
- Applesauce
Tuesday
- Oven-Fried Fish
- some kind of bread…not sure what yet!
- green salad
Wednesday
- Tacos
- fresh peaches
Thursday
- Pesto Pasta with Grilled Chicken
- green salad
Friday
- We’re having an overnight getaway for our anniversary, which means that we are going out to dinner. Yay! My brother and sister-in-law are watching our kids, and I will probably leave pizza dough for them so they can easily have pizza for dinner.

Love those blueberries from Aldi! Our store had pints for $1.58. I bought 3 then went back 2 days later to get more. They had them marked down to .99 so I bought 12 and froze them. Now I will have blueberries all winter.

I just wanted to say thank you for your blog. I am now a yeast bread baking FANATIC!! I'm 38, and after watching my mother try to bake yeast breads - with no success - when I was a kid, I had always avoided them like the plague. They are easy and really good. My family is very happy. The pictures make a big difference.
