Kitchen Helper

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I post a picture and just a few words.

Yesterday afternoon, Zoe was at loose ends, so I handed her a knife and had her help me with dinner prep.

She’d never used a chef’s knife before, but she did a great job (and nothing besides food was cut in the process. 😉 )

Cute! My 3 year old actually cries if she happens to see me cracking eggs and I'm on the last one! I'd have to let her crack the eggs each time now! My 11 year old loves to help and chop up veggies too. t sure beats the winter blues or indoor boredom, lol

Yes, what is it about 3yo's and cracking eggs?! And mine is surprisingly good at it!

It must have been going around yesterday! My daughter was at loose ends also and she helped with dinner too! And she actually ate it (she's usually picky) and yelled at her dad to save her some leftovers so she could have it for lunch today!! Amazing how much better it tastes when you help cook it.

They see it as such a fun opportunity and take ownership when the meal hits the table! I need to let in little helpers more often :)

I know. Me too. It's hard when it's so much quicker to do it yourself! And I always feel like I'm in a hurry when I'm making dinner.

I'm hoping to devote more time to training kitchen helpers this summer, while we've got a freer schedule.
