On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I post a picture and just a few words.
Lisey’s history book touched on New Zealand recently, and the book suggested that she make a little kiwi bird out of kiwifruits.
I’m not sure exactly how valuable this project is from an educational standpoint, but Lisey is always up for making cute things, so I bought her some kiwifruits.
The photo in the book wasn’t all that cute, but my creative girls had no problem improving on the original. 😉 And they were very anxious for me to share the photos of their birds with you.
So, here you go!
The birds even have strawberry backpacks and handbags, which crack me up.
(Please ignore the fact that birds would have a hard time wearing a backpack or carrying a bag.)

Kristen, those little kiwifruits are adorable! My kids love them, but we prefer the golden variety, which I haven't seen here yet. They're not quite so tart as the green ones, and their skins are less fuzzy.

As yet another Kiwi reader/homeschooler living in the US I would like to tell your girls that their kiwifruit kiwis are adorable. My children got to see real Kiwi recently... The Memphis, TN zoo has some! And I too have struggled with the naming of kiwifruit as "kiwi". Kiwi are the birds or the people. I gave up trying to explain that it is the equivalent of calling a strawberry a straw, or a grapefruit a grape!!รฐลธหโฐ

Tell your girls they did a fabulous job--how fun! I think that creativity is very educational. It increases problem-solving skills and thinking outside of the box. Plus, a creative activity will reinforce the lesson you were teaching. :)

Kiwi reader here :) (NZers are also known as Kiwis to make things more confusing!) What a cool idea to make Kiwi bird out of kiwifruit! Too cute to eat!
