Since chatting about my faults on the internet seems to be a very effective way of helping me change, I’m going to talk about something else I’m not very good at.
That something else is keeping track of my grocery spending. I know exactly how much I spend at my main grocery store, but I’m terrible at keeping track of my purchases elsewhere (like Coscto, or Target), and I’d like to get better at that.
I budget for about $80 a week, and over the next few months as I track this more carefully I should get a better idea of exactly how close to that number I get.
I’ll be posting this along with my menu each week, since I go grocery shopping near the end of the week.
This week at my main store, I spent $73, and then I sent my husband to Costco for a few things, and that trip was $33.
So, I’m at $106 for this week, but last week I only spent $61 all told, which averages out to $83.50/week for this week and last week. So, for the moment I’m just about on budget.
On to the menu!

Awesome!! I can't wait! I love your baking blog. In fact I just made some bread (English Muffin Bread) last night.(I should take some pictures and send them to you) My husband and kids just love it. Thanks for posting all the recipes...it inspires me to bake.

Hi, Whitney! I'd be glad to get the recipe to you. When I make it on Friday night, I'll take some pictures and get it posted on my baking blog(which has been sadly neglected as of late...I need to get on that). I'm glad that you've liked the recipes on there...until you commented here, no one has told me they've actually made anything I've posted! lol

Hi Kristen-
I was wondering if you had a receipe for your Stromboli. I have tried Stromboli once and it turned out awful. I follow your baking blog and have LOVED the receipes on there.

Thanks, Gina! I'm glad you found it inspiring...reading other people's blogs does the same thing for me. I'm reading one about a couple who is trying to produce no trash, and while I don't think I'm going to get down that low, it freshly inspired me to use my compost bin more faithfully.
