If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I’ve been gone for the last few days. Sadly, my sister-in-law delivered a still-born baby in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at a hospital three hours from here. I was with her the whole time to help her and to photograph my niece.
I considered it an honor and a privilege to be able to assist her in this small way and I would do it again in a heartbeat. No doubt.
However, I got only a small amount of sleep, so I’m pretty tired. In addition, I’m trying to get us all ready to go on vacation in less than 36 hours, and hardly any packing has gotten done.
So, though I love to write posts here, I need to spend my time today doing other things (packing and then sleeping!).
One of the things I need to do tomorrow is clean out my fridge, though, so I will probably get a Food Waste Friday post up after I do that. See you then.

I just stumbled upon this post....I too delivered a still born baby on 5/21/08. I know I don't know your sister-in-law, but please tell her someone is praying for her. The 9th I'm sure was very hard for her. Even though I have a precious 5 month old healthy baby boy, I still miss my first little boy. It always stays with you. That was so nice of you to be there and take the pictures for her. : )

So wonderful you were able to give her the gift of photographs of her baby- a friend's mother volunteers for Now I Lay me Down to Sleep, a non-profit that has volunteer photographers take family pictures at such a time. It's such a blessing to help in the grieving and healing process. Very sorry to hear the news, I do hope everyone is doing as well as they can be.
