I mentioned yesterday that I was going to try to do a bare bones shopping trip this week, due to my $90 trip to Costco. I did my best, and I resisted buying a lot of things at the grocery store, so I came away with a total of $47.65. It would have been a tad better, but my husband needed a new bottle of dandruff shampoo, which was almost $5.
Ah well…it’s much better than spending $80. If I can manage this again next week, I should be just about back on budget, I think. 🙂

The annoying thing is, another grocery store in the area(which I'd just been to in the last few days) carries a dandruff shampoo that is much cheaper than the one I bought. But he was totally out, and so I had to buy the more expensive one. It was a store brand, but kind of an expensive store brand! I'll have to plan ahead better next time....I'm thinking of just buying a bottle of the cheaper stuff to have as a backup for when he finishes this bottle.

Yes! Things like shampoo really eat into the grocery budget, I find. I've found better bargains on *some* items at the dollar store. You have to compare though...Some things aren't better deals.
