…is that they don’t have very discriminating palates. They seem to be oblivious to flat soda or stale crackers, they don’t mind eating little bits of leftover breads and muffins, and they aren’t put off by the broken bits at the bottom of cracker boxes.
We’re working hard at cleaning out our fridge before we leave on vacation(it’s looking quite empty in there!), and the kids have been most helpful. They drank flat soda leftover from Joshua’s birthday party(actually, there were two different types, which they happily mixed together), they ate the rest of our carrots(I sliced them up, left them on the counter, and they were gone within an hour), several raw tomatoes, a few leftover ravioli, and a couple of random apple slices, among other things.
Of course, they do create some food waste, especially the younger two, what with their tendency to leave half-eaten things on their plates, but at least they also keep me from wasting food sometimes too.

Shasta, Sonia really loves raw plum tomatoes. She'll just ask for one if they're sitting on the counter, which is great.
FB, thanks! They are pretty adorable, aren't they?? lol And just so you know, there is a lot you can do to help discourage picky eating and encourage good eating habits. My 9 year old used to be HORRIBLY picky and now he will cheerfully eat most anything that I put in front of him.

And they look like sweet little angels.
I hope my future kids don't grow up to be picky eaters :)

That's great! My kids are such picky eaters, you're lucky! They're good on the flat soda and cracker pieces but getting them to eat a raw tomato or even an egg, no way!
