Usually I try to post on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. But I posted on Monday and Tuesday, and the gap from Tuesday to Friday seemed too long.
So, here I am with some randomness to fill in the gap. 😉
Remember when blogs were more like this all the time? When we didn’t write listicles and didn’t worry about SEO optimization and keywords?
I’ve been blogging for so long, I’m like a grandparent who talks about the good old days.
ANYWAY.
I finished painting Zoe’s nightstand, which I mentioned on Tuesday.
It’s cloudy and dark here today, so I will take better pictures and do a post with before and afters later, but here’s a peek.
I did a series of time-lapse videos while I was sanding, priming, and painting, so hopefully that post will have a video too.
Since the paint I used on Zoe’s nightstand is the same I used in my kitchen, I decided to touch up some of my cabinets while I had the paint out.
(Oodles of kitchen cabinet before and after photos are right here.)
The cabinets and drawers by the sink get the most abuse, but they’re looking great after a little touching up.
I even wiped down and repainted the floor of that cabinet. So of course, I keep opening the cabinet to gaze at the fresh whiteness.
And since I had the repainting bug yesterday, I also got out the leftover gray paint and touched up our foyer railings.
Today is Halloween, so…do you want to see our pumpkins?
Joshua and his girlfriend came over to carve with us, and they made a No-Face pumpkin.
Lisey opted to paint her pumpkin instead of carving it.
The paint wasn’t drying fast enough:
(It still needs felt ears, but I believe it’s a baby deer. And the black thing in the middle is a nose, not a mouth! You can look at it both ways, we discovered.)
Lisey’s pumpkin developed a bad spot, which we discovered just as she was about to paint it.
But never fear! She fixed it.
Sonia made a Cuphead pumpkin.
(Cuphead is a video game with vintage graphics. The graphics might be 75% of why Sonia likes the game!)
And Zoe did the cowboy emoji. 😉
Speaking of Halloween, I ended up giving away the last two costumes I had. I just really wanted someone to be able to use them this year!
And honestly, I did not want to store them for another year.
The weather here was looking positively dreadful, but the forecast has improved a bit. I hope the same is true for you if you were planning on going out and dressing up!
P.S. I messed up the code on the button for the $15 bonus offer from Top Cashback. I fixed it in the original post, but I’m adding it here too. It’s a referral link, which means we both get a bonus when you click on it, sign up, and earn cashback.

We had a super fun Halloween here dispute the tornado watch and warning and torrential downpour and flash flooding. Trick or Treat went on as scheduled despite the possibility of Wizard of Oz twisters. A pumpkin was carved, costumes dawned, spooky music played, kids swarmed porches for candy, and even though it rained buckets our basement stayed dry and we didn’t lose power! Happy Halloween!

Yes! We had a merciful break in the weather too, at just the right time of the evening. Phew!

Oh how I miss the days before listicles and SEO, but on the plus side I do think my posts have improved thanks to the guidelines. I don't see much progress via Google, but longer articles do provide more content and depth. I feel like my old articles were never quite complete.
Also ridiculously cute pumpkin. I'm also so envious of your artistic family.

I don't know how all four of my kids ended up so artistically inclined! Mr. FG and I must have recessive artistic genes. ;)

No shame in liking graphics stylized like cartoons from the 1930s. It's definitely my favorite era of animation when Disney, Fleischer and Ub Iwerks were creative great works of art regularly.

You have such fun with your kids, and it makes me long for the days when my children still lived at home. It's a bit sad now that they are gone :(

Your kids are unbelievably grown up! I’ve been reading your blog since they were little kids, the ages mine are now, so I get sad seeing how quickly yours have grown up, knowing mine will be that age in a blink!! :’-( And I’ll be in my late 40s but I refuse to think about that. Lol It’s rainy and gloomy here also; nevertheless we’re going out tonight to roam our neighbourhood begging for candy from strangers. Halloween is fun but it’s also just weird. Since I have 3 little daughters, they are going as the Ingalls sisters from the Little House books, which my second grader is reading right now. I strongly suggested we take a break from Disney princess costumes since that’s all they ever want to be (and the Disney costumes are pushed SO HARD) and I’m just getting a little tired of constant princesses everywhere I look.

My daughter was Laura Ingalls two years ago (she loves the books and rereads then quite often). Best part, I made her dress and bonnet and apron from my grade 8 graduation dress that I'd held onto all these years. The original dress was handmade by my mother. It was a no cost costume and my Mum even came over to help me make it.
