First, many apologies to all of you email subscribers. You received a wonky email the last few days….a chopped off post ending with an abnormally large smiley face.
After a long chat with the helpful folks at MadMimi yesterday (MadMimi is my blog’s email service provider), I did some googling and figured out that there was an emoji problem with the new WordPress update.
I installed a plugin to fix it, and now your email feed should be back to normal.
(Click here to subscribe via email if you haven’t already!)
This means, though, that you missed the plethora of pictures of my girlies in their Limeapple activewear.
(My kids all subscribe to my blog, and when Lisey checked her email she was like, “Where are all the pictures??” So, I discovered the problem thanks to my avid in-house blog readers. )
The email issue also means that you missed the giveaway info for the Third Day Naturals giveaway.
Because of this, I’m gonna extend the Third Day Naturals giveaway for one more day, and I’ll close comments at midnight EST tonight.
So, go throw your name in the hat to win a $40 collection of Third Day Naturals products!

We celebrated my birthday this week.
I’m 37 now, but we didn’t have 37 candles, so 10 had to do.
Before we had cake, we went out for Tex-Mex, because that is my very favorite type of food to eat.
AVOCADOS FOREVER.
Sadly, Zoe was feeling carsick on the ride home, so I only have three of my kids with me in this photo. This was, uh, the least silly of all the shots Mr. FG took.
(Yup…I’m already shorter than one kid, and I think another one is going to eclipse me soon.)
Photo creds to Joshua for the first two photos and to Mr. FG for the last one.

The oak trees are spewing yellow pollen everywhere.
This is always the worst time of year for Allergy Girl (aka Sonia). But the oak pollen is usually only super bad for about a week, and then her allergies get better.
Allergies are such a pity, because visually speaking, this is an awfully beautiful time of year.

My freezer challenge is coming along pretty nicely. And these potato cinnamon rolls I made (to use up frozen mashed potatoes) weren’t a challenge to eat.
I used this recipe from Better Homes and Gardens, but if you want a step-by-step photo post of the recipe, let me know.
More on my freezer challenge progress next week!
(And Food Waste Friday is up at Simply Being Mum today.)

A Frugal Family's Journey

Happy Belated Birthday....hope you had a great day celebrating with the family. I like to think of my birthdays now as 21 with x-years of experience. For instance, I will be celebrating my 21 years with 22 years of experience this coming August. :)
Thanks for sharing. The photos of the family, outdoors, and food all look great.
Until next time. Best Wishes! AFFJ

Oh, Sonia, I feel for you. Allergies are SO not fun. I'm 31, and I've lived in Virginia (TERRIBLE oak pollen, like you), Chicago (not bad at all, but that's because there weren't many trees), and now St. Louis, which is in between. It can get better. You can figure out the drugs (for me it's claritin + eyedrops, for my sister it's flonase) that work, and you can move/outgrow them. But in the meantime, oh, you have my sympathy.

What a happy beautiful photo of the four of you. I feel for Zoe as I still get carsick sometimes and tell Mr FG that he needs to get in front of the camera occasionally!

Haha-he is SO camera shy. Oy. I manage to beg a photographic favor of him every once in a while, but usually I'm not successful.

That does not look like Sonia...at all. I guess we don't usually see her in her glasses :)

Plus she and Lisey were both making silly faces.
