Ten Dollars?

For a huge box (probably 20 pounds or so) of slightly bruised local peaches, I think that’s a very fair price.

box of bruised peaches

Usually there are just a few peaches in the bruised peach bin ($0.90/pound individually), but yesterday, the box was full, and a full box sells for $10.

Yay!

I froze a bunch right away (I do love peaches and cream on my winter oatmeal), and I think we’ll just eat the rest.

peaches & winter oatmeal sounds yummy. However, how do you freeze your peaches? whole? I can't imagine that. Could you give me a hint how you freeze those peaches?

Yup-I just peel them, slice them, lay them on a baking sheet, freeze them, and then put them in bags in the freezer.

How do you freeze them? Peeled and cut in pieces (trimming out the bruises)? Just peeled? Do you put lemon juice on what you freeze to keep them from discoloring?

I love peaches! They are a great addition to just about anything. Lucky!

Awesome! We just got a peck of local peaches and they are delicious. We are only a family of three (and one of us is 15 months old) so there's no way we can eat them all fresh. I'm gonna freeze some for baking but I'd like to do something else too... maybe peach butter? has anyone else made peach butter?

How do you freeze them? Do you do anything special to them?

Thanks! I ask b/c I LOVE fresh, local peaches and eat them all summer dreading when they are going to stop being so good!
