Instead of a recipe today, I have two tips.
Keeping Non-Stick Spray Contained
I like to use non-stick spray for most of my greasing needs. It’s really handy, but it can be a little messy because when you try to spray the edge of the pan, the spray always goes over the sides. Recently, I’ve begun putting my pans on my open dishwasher door. That way when the spray goes over the edges, it lands on the dishwasher door which gets washed every night.
Lump-Free Baking Powder
Over the years, I’ve occasionally had problems with my baking powder being lumpy. These lumps seem to be rather hard and manage to stand up to pretty vigorous whisking. While they don’t interfere with the rising of a quick bread dough or batter, they leave a very unpleasant taste in the mouth of the poor soul who happens to eat the wrong slice of banana bread. So, when I’m adding baking powder to a recipe, I always use my handy-dandy little mesh strainer to sift the baking powder. The non-lumpy baking powder falls right through with a little shaking, and the tiny lumps that are left get thrown into the trash.

you can just push the lumps of baking powder through the mesh. They will break up and fall right through. No use throwing them away.

Thanks for the tip! My baking powder was so lumpy that I would have lost most of it if I threw away the lumps. So, I took your idea a step further. I put a clean mesh sink strainer over a coffee cup, and used the handle of an ice cream scoop to push the baking powder through, kind of like a mortar and pestle. Thanks for the idea!

Came over from moneysavingmom (I think). I like all your tips-very helpful. I use my dishwasher door for something else. When I'm wiping down my counter, I open it up and let all the crumbs go into it-saves me having to walk over to the trash can with a handful of soggy crumbs.
