How to make homemade marshmallows

It's difficult to produce cylindrical marshmallows at home but they are really fun to make, they have a great vanilla flavor, and they’re softer and fresher tasting than the ones in the package.

Ingredients

– Confectioner’s sugar – Cornstarch – Water – Unflavored gelatin – Corn syrup – Granulated sugar – Salt – Vanilla extract

Instructions

Before you get started with the actual cooking, you’ll need to line a 9×13 inch pan with aluminum foil.

Step: 1

In a small bowl, mix together 2/3 cup confectioner’s sugar and 1/3 cup cornstarch. You’ll use this to de-stick-ify the marshmallows later.

Step: 2

Step: 3

Then pour 1/2 cup of water into your mixer bowl and sprinkle 2 1/2 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin over it. I used the Knox brand.

Step: 4

In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup water and 2/3 cup corn syrup. Pour 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of salt into the middle of the pan.
