Weekly Goal Update

Last Week

I’m back with an update! And it’s only been about a week. Yay me.

1. Update Quicken.

2. Do a money email for March.

No. I started on it, but it’s not finished.

3. Exercise 4 days.

4. Maintain white space in my Outlook inbox.

Yes! I’m doing pretty well with this. My catch-all post the other day definitely helped to clear out some things that had been in my inbox for a while, so I’m happy about that.

5. Take care of the credit card situation (we need to close one and open another joint one)

Nope. I had it scheduled for one morning, but we spent that morning doing the following goal:

6. Plan an anniversary trip with Mr. FG

Well, we picked dates, arranged babysitting, arranged for a keyboard sub at church, bought plane tickets, and rented a car. So, now all we have to do is reserve our hotels. Yay!

7. Finish reading Eat That Frog and All the Money in The World

Yup. And I finished Eat That Frog just in time because it was coming due at the library (nothing like finishing a book about procrastination at the last minute. Ahem.)

I’ll share my thoughts on these two books in a separate post…I think they were both good reads, though.

8. Finish planning church worship music for March.

Check!

9. Make a March blog plan.

Done. I’m trying a blog post calendar that’s installed right on my blog dashboard, but I’m not sure so far if I prefer it over my paper calendar method.

I tend to prefer pencil and paper planning…I write to-do lists on paper, and my menu plans are all on paper too!

10. Finish the Why I Homeschool post and actually publish it.

If you were here yesterday, you already know that’s done! (Here it is in case you missed it.)

This Week

1. Update Quicken

Yeah. Still don’t trust myself to get that done without putting it on the list!

2. Do a money email for March.

3. Exercise 4 days.

4. Maintain white space in my Outlook inbox.

See #1. I still need to keep this on the list for now.

5. Take care of the credit card situation (we need to close one and open another joint one).

6. Spend one morning painting with Mr. FG.

We’re working on repainting our foyer/steps area. It’s boring work (just beige, the same color as before), so it’s hard to find the inspiration to finish it up.

(These next three goals are a result of something I read in Eat That Frog, which is that tasks you been putting off are easier if you break them into small chunks. I’ve been majorly putting off some work on Joshua and Lisey’s blogs.)

7. Fix my blog FTP login.

There was a security breach recently, so I need to reset things there so that I can get into the back end of my blogs. I need to do that so I can:

8. Install The Thesis Theme on Joshua and Lisey’s blogs.

Thesis is the blog theme I use here and on my 365 blog. It’s a paid theme, but I bought a developer’s license, so I can put it on as many of my blogs as I want.

It’s really easy to customize without having to know html (love that!), and I’d like to get it installed onto Joshua and Lisey’s blogs.

9. Help Joshua and Lisey make headers for their blogs.

Once the Thesis theme is installed, the headers they have right now will disappear, so we’ll need to make and install new ones.

10. Book hotels for my trip with Mr. FG.

My brother works for a hotel chain, which means we get a delightful discount on rooms. Yay! We just need to plot out our trip and figure out what cities we’ll need to stay in.

I have added a little twist to my goal list. I have my big picture goals (related to my business), I have a daily/weekly to do list, and recently I upped the ante a bit by creating a "what's holding me back" list. After thinking and reading this list for a few weeks, I have also added a call to action for each of the things that I think are holding me back. Example: sleeping in -- get up, procrastination -- just do something, fear of rejection-- breathe/pray, anxiety-- pray and prepare.

I'm intrigued by the money email. My aunt and I email about money, but that's because she's out of state. However, it's easier than talking over the phone sometimes. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather ;)
