Well, hi! I kinda took a day off yesterday.

pumpkin pie with whipped cream

(crustless pumpkin pie, in case you were wondering)

I stayed home almost the entire day (save for a doctor appointment), watched another Jane Austen movie with the girls and some friends (BBC Persuasion this time!) and visited no stores.

(That’s my favorite kind of Black Friday.   I haaaate brick and mortar store Black Friday shopping.   Really not my thing, as it’s just the kind of sale I can’t stand.)

However, I’m not opposed to shopping online to snag some of the deals that are available on Thanksgiving weekend.   Online shopping takes all the stress out of it, because there’s no rushing and no crowds.

Ahhhhh.

I get a lot of emails asking me to share deals at this time of year, but because the deals this weekend can be completely overwhelming, I just want to share two from companies that I believe in.

First up, you can get 50% OFF all items (excluding new-with-tags merchandise) with code DELIGHTED at Schoola.com.

The girls and I have quite a collection of Schoola clothing now.   It’s kind of like shopping an online thrift store, and I’ve found so many great quality clothing items there.

(Proceeds from Schoola support local schools.)

And secondly, at Novica you can save $10 on orders over $50, $15 on orders over $100 and $25 on orders over $150. Use code SAVE10, SAVE15, and SAVE25 to save.

Artisan Jewelry at NOVICA

I believe shipping may also be free right now.

Novica doesn’t JUST sell jewelry, by the way.   They’ve got clothing and housewares and accessories and gift items as well.

For example, this pitcher (made from recycled glass) is beautiful isn’t it?? And it’s only $29.99 right now.

(Novica is a National Geographic company that helps worldwide artisans sell their wares at fair prices.)

I hope these two sales are helpful to you!

And since I’m all about supporting ethical and small businesses, I’ve got several fun giveaways coming up in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for those.

Glad you got around to watching Persuasion. Given that Anne Elliot says very little, its a very powerful dramatisation of the novel. And Bath is most beautiful place.

Leah loves the BBC adaptation of Sense & Sensibility best (even over Pride & Predjudice) - my favourite BBC adaptation is North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell about Manchester cotton mills.

As you are talking about sweet movies to watch with daughters, it just brought to mind that I cannot wait until mine are a little older so I can watch "Little Women" with them (there are many versions but I do love the newest with Winona Ryder. Absolutely sweet!

Yes! I'm not sure my younger two have seen that yet.

We went shopping yesterday...at the thrift store, in search of small jars for homemade bath salts for Christmas gifts. I like that kind of Black Friday too! (We ended up with canning jars from the grocery store in the end)
